Salary Calculator
Convert any pay rate between annual, monthly, weekly, daily and hourly.
About this calculator
Job offers, freelance contracts and side-projects all quote pay in different units. A salary calculator lets you put them on the same footing so you can compare like with like — a 38-an-hour contract isn’t always better than a 70,000 salary once you account for holidays and benefits.
How it works
The calculator assumes a regular working pattern that you set: hours per week and weeks per year. From any single number you give it (annual, monthly, weekly, daily or hourly) it works out the equivalent at all the other periods.
Monthly pay is always annual divided by 12 — never 4× a weekly amount, since a month is on average 4.33 weeks. Likewise, weekly pay is annual divided by the number of weeks worked, not by 52 if you take unpaid leave.
Daily pay uses 5 working days per week, the standard for full-time employees. If you work a different schedule (e.g. four 10-hour days, or six shorter days) adjust the hours-per-week input rather than treating a day as something other than five.
Note that this calculator works on gross pay only. Net (take-home) pay depends on country-specific income tax, social security and benefits, which differ enough between jurisdictions that they belong in dedicated country-specific calculators.
Formula
annual = source-amount × periods-per-year-of-source
monthly = annual / 12
weekly = annual / weeks-per-year
daily = annual / (weeks-per-year × 5)
hourly = annual / (weeks-per-year × hours-per-week) Examples
60,000 annual salary
60,000 a year on a standard 40-hour week works out to about 28.85 per hour.
Result: Monthly 5,000 — Weekly 1,153.85 — Hourly 28.85
Hourly 25 rate, 40-hour week
A 25-an-hour role at 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year, is equivalent to a 52,000 annual salary.
Result: Annual 52,000 — Monthly 4,333.33
